Chapter 19 - THE PROSECUTORKelsey’s criminal case moved separately.

No instant trial.

No dramatic courtroom confession.

She admitted the first strike.

Claimed self-defense.

Video undermined that claim.

My prior texts and the paper-shove gave her lawyer something to argue.

But I was visibly pregnant.

She carried a heavy metal utensil into the confrontation.

I was backing away before the strike.

Children were present.

She eventually entered a plea to an assault-related offense.

Probation.

Community service.

Anger intervention.

No contact with me.

Suspended jail time conditioned on compliance.

Some relatives wanted prison.

Some of Kelsey’s friends thought I had weaponized pregnancy to ruin her.
