Chapter 7 - THE FIRST HITKelsey’s story was that she lifted the ladle because she felt threatened.

The recording helped.
But not perfectly.
I was angry.
I had raised my voice.
At one point I grabbed the document packet and shoved it against Ethan’s chest.
Not hard enough to knock him back.
Still physical.
Still something I wished I had not done.
Kelsey said:
“Don’t touch him.”
I answered:
“Stay out of this.”
Then she picked up the ladle.
I moved backward.
She moved forward.
I said:
“Put it down.”
She said:
“You think being pregnant lets you control everybody.”
Then swung sideways.
The metal bowl struck the outside of my upper arm.
I cried out.
Mia screamed.
Owen started sobbing.
I looked toward Ethan.
He smiled.
That was the image Rachel would later pause.
His mistress had just hit his pregnant wife with a metal object.
His children were screaming.

Then Kelsey raised it again.
