Chapter 9 - The Reckoning of Manhattan

Alessandro carried Emma safely down the narrow,
reinforced staircase leading into the estate's subterranean safe room.
The thick steel vault door was held open by Marco,
who kept his rifle trained on the upper hallway.
Inside the lit,
bunker-like room,
Sophia was pacing frantically back and forth.
The moment she saw Alessandro walk through the doorway with Emma in his arms,
a loud sob escaped her throat.
"Emma!"
Sophia cried out,
rushing forward and pulling her daughter into a desperate,
loving embrace.
Emma wrapped her arms around her mother's neck.
"Mommy,
Mr. Alessandro saved me!
He carried me like a superhero!"
Sophia looked up at Alessandro over her daughter's shoulder,
her eyes filled with overwhelming gratitude and emotion.
"Thank you,"
she whispered,
her voice trembling.
"Thank you so much."
Alessandro offered a faint,
reassuring nod,
his expression turning back to cold steel as he turned toward Marco.
"Is the estate secured?"
Alessandro asked quietly.
"All twelve intruders have been neutralized,
boss,"
Marco confirmed,
wiping sweat from his forehead.
"Security teams are clearing the outer perimeter now.
Dante Vance wasn't among them.
He stayed behind in his safehouse in Brooklyn,
sending his men on a suicide mission."
Alessandro's eyes burned with a dark,
unforgiving fire.
"He dared to bring war into my home,"
Alessandro said,
his voice terrifyingly quiet.
"He threatened the only people who matter to me.
End this tonight,
Marco.
Bring me Dante Vance."
"Consider it done,
boss,"
Marco said,
turning to organize the strike team.
Two hours later,
the rain had finally stopped,
leaving the streets of Brooklyn washed in cold,
slick reflections of neon lights.
Inside an abandoned warehouse along the waterfront,
Dante Vance sat bound to a heavy wooden chair,
his face bruised and his confidence entirely shattered.
Isabella stood cowering in the corner,
guarded by two towering Moretti enforcers.
The heavy metal doors of the warehouse creaked open,
and Alessandro walked in,
his long dark coat swinging around his boots.
The footsteps echoed loudly against the concrete floor like the ticks of a death clock.
"Alessandro...
please..."
Isabella sobbed,
falling to her knees.
"It was Dante's idea!
He forced me into it!
He threatened me!"
Alessandro didn't even look at her.
He walked straight up to Dante Vance,
stopping a foot away from the bound mobster.
"You tried to attack my home,
Dante,"
Alessandro said,
his deep voice ringing through the empty warehouse.
"You sent men to a place where a six-year-old child was sleeping."
"I was trying to kill you,
Moretti!"
Dante spat,
his voice filled with desperate malice.
"You took my money!
You destroyed my business!"
"You destroyed yourself the moment you mistook my patience for weakness,"
Alessandro replied calmly.
He drew his silver pistol,
checking the magazine with precise,
practiced movements.
"Your territory is gone.
Your men are gone.
Your legacy is erased."
Alessandro turned his back on Dante,
walking back toward the exit doors.
"Marco,"
Alessandro called out as he reached the door.
"Clean up this trash."
"No!
Alessandro!
Wait!"
May you like
Dante screamed as the heavy metal doors slammed shut,
sealing the room in total darkness.
