Chapter 12 - The Prison Break

The moon was swallowed by heavy storm clouds,
pitching the federal penitentiary into absolute darkness.
Inside the maximum-security wing,
the alarms suddenly blared with a deafening screech,
flashing blinding red emergency lights across the concrete walls.
Guards shouted frantically into their radios,
running toward the western sector where a simulated riot had just erupted.
Amidst the chaos and confusion,
a heavily modified supply truck crashed violently through the outer security gate,
shattering steel chains and security checkpoints.
Inmates flooded the yard,
screaming and shoving,
while Daniel Carter walked calmly through the confusion,
escorted by three trusted enforcers who had breached the facility from the inside.
"Move,
boss,
we only have three minutes before tactical backup arrives,"
Marcus yelled over the wailing sirens.
Daniel climbed into the back of the armored truck without looking back,
his face an impassive mask of cold determination.
The truck slammed into reverse,
tearing through the secondary perimeter fence,
and speeding out into the desolate highway.
They drove through the night without stopping,
crossing state lines under false plates and forged documents,
heading northeast toward the freezing coast of Maine.
Daniel sat silently in the passenger seat,
cleaning his fingernails with a small silver pocketknife,
his mind entirely focused on the destination.
He had lost his empire,
his freedom,
and his reputation,
but none of that mattered anymore.
The only thing that mattered was reclaiming his daughter and settling the score with the woman who had dared to outsmart him.
As the sun began to rise over the snowy New England landscape,
the truck crossed the town line of Bar Harbor,
pulling into the dense pine forests near the rocky shore.
Daniel looked out the frosted window,
spotting the small,
isolated seaside cottage nestled against the crashing waves.
"Kill the engine,"
Daniel ordered quietly.
May you like
The truck rolled to a silent stop behind a row of pine trees,
and the final confrontation was about to begin.
