Chapter 20 - THE PANEL REDUCES ITSELF

Ten years after Bellafonte, the Residence & Heritage Trust underwent mandatory review.

Twenty-seven percent special protected consent had become too large relative to the evolved property structure.

Fiorelli House was partly commercial.

Professional preservation rules existed.

Residence needs had changed.

Independent advisers proposed reducing protected consent from twenty-seven percent to nineteen.

The remaining eight percent equivalent governance weight shifted into:

Historic preservation covenant.

Employee-service protections.

Independent audit concurrence.

No family personal authority.

Mother supported from Villa Sereno.

I supported.

Veronica had no vote.

The court approved under trust modification procedures.

No family scandal.

Then Mother said:

“Your father would hate losing eight.”

“He wrote the amendment clause.”

“He would hate himself for being sensible.”

Probably.

Then the “Senior Residence Protector” title retired permanently after Mother’s generation.

Future older family residents would have contractual residence rights and independent elder advocates, not a personal governance office.

Why?

Because a title can become a throne even when designed as protection.

Better system.

Less symbolism.

May you like

More procedure.

That felt like progress.
