Part 37

As the weeks turned into months, the crisp autumn air gradually gave way to the sharp, cozy chill of early winter.

Sofia’s baby bump was finally starting to show, a small, beautiful curve that she proudly showcased in soft, form-fitting sweaters.

One Saturday evening, the family gathered around our large living room fireplace, surrounded by the warmth of a crackling fire and the scent of cinnamon tea.

We had design magazines and baby catalogs scattered across the coffee table, though we spent more time talking and laughing than actual planning.

"Alright, we need to start discussing the most important detail," Alexander announced, leaning back against the sofa cushions with a playful grin. "Names. I believe a strong, classic name is absolutely essential."

Sofia laughed, resting her hands protectively over her stomach as she looked over at Ethan, who was smiling warmly beside her.

"Ethan and I have a few ideas," Sofia revealed, her voice filled with a sweet, mischievous energy. "But we want something that carries meaning, something that represents strength and new beginnings."

"What about Maya?" Ethan suggested, looking at Sofia with deep affection. "It means 'illusion' in some cultures, but in others, it means 'water' or 'new life.' It sounds gentle but resilient."

I felt a sudden, deep warmth spread through my chest as I listened to them discuss the future so freely, without a single worry about the outside world.

"Maya is beautiful," I agreed softly, looking over at Alexander, whose eyes were filled with the exact same peace I felt.

"And if it's a boy?" Alexander asked, leaning forward with genuine curiosity.

"We were thinking of Lucas," Sofia said, her eyes shining as she looked directly at her father. "It means 'bringer of light.' Because that's exactly what this baby has done for all of us."

The room fell into a beautiful, emotional silence as the weight of her words settled over us, reminding us that this child was truly our beacon of hope.
