Part 42

As the final weeks of winter began to fade, a sense of quiet, breathless anticipation settled over the entire family.
Sofia’s due date was rapidly approaching in late March, and we had everything prepared down to the very last detail.
The studio was running smoothly under the care of our trusted management team, allowing Alexander and me to focus completely on being present for our children.
We had a shared family group chat where Ethan would send daily updates on Sofia’s well-being, along with photos of her resting or enjoying a healthy meal.
One evening, while Alexander and I were reading in the study, my phone lit up with a video call from Sofia and Ethan.
We answered immediately, seeing the two of them sitting on their living room couch, looking incredibly happy but slightly tired.
"Hi, Mom! Hi, Dad!" Sofia greeted us, her voice filled with a sweet, excited energy. "We just wanted to show you something amazing."
Ethan held the camera steady, focusing on Sofia’s round, beautiful belly beneath her soft linen shirt.
"Watch closely," Ethan whispered, his voice shaking slightly with an intense, joyful excitement.
For a few seconds, nothing happened, and then suddenly, a distinct, tiny movement rippled across the surface of her stomach—a tiny kick from the little life inside.
"Did you see that?" Alexander asked, leaning forward eagerly, his face practically pressed against the screen with a wide, delighted grin.

"We see it, sweetheart," I laughed, my heart swelling with an overwhelming sense of wonder and love. "They're getting ready to meet us."
"We can't wait," Sofia murmured, her hand resting over the spot where the baby had kicked, her eyes full of a deep, maternal peace that filled my heart with absolute pride.
