Part 48

Two days later, the weather was absolutely perfect as we finally brought Sofia, Ethan, and baby Maya home from the hospital.
The spring sun was warm and brilliant, drying the last remnants of the storm and making the fresh green leaves sparkle along the avenue.
Alexander and I drove ahead to their apartment, making sure the rooms were warm, the kitchen was stocked with fresh food, and everything was pristine.
When they walked through the front door, Ethan carrying the car seat with absolute, hyper-vigilant care, the apartment felt alive with a new purpose.
We helped them settle into the living room, propping Sofia up with comfortable pillows while Maya slept soundly through the transition.
"Thank you both so much," Ethan said, walking us to the door later that evening after a quiet, peaceful dinner. "We couldn't have made it through these last few days without you."
Alexander smiled, placing a warm, paternal hand on Ethan's shoulder, looking at him with absolute respect.
"You are a family now, Ethan," Alexander said firmly. "Your only job is to love each other and protect that little girl. We will always be right behind you."

As Alexander and I walked out to our car in the cool, clear evening air, the stars above were bright and steady, casting a gentle light over the quiet streets.
Our daughter was a mother, our family had expanded, and the legacy of our survival was officially secured in the gentle breath of a newborn child.
