Natalie sat across from him.

Ryan nodded.
“Yes.”
She cried.
“But I understand why you were afraid.”
Natalie looked up.
“Can you forgive me?”
“Someday.”
That was the most honest answer he could give.
Then Lily entered holding Evan's hand.
“Are you really my daddy?”
Ryan knelt.
“Yes.”
“Forever?”
His throat tightened.
“Forever.”
Lily wrapped her arms around him.
Evan joined them.
And for the first time since the nightmare began, Ryan felt something other than anger.
He felt whole.
