Chapter 16 - THE HUSBAND'S BETRAYAL EXPOSED

The newspapers were filled with the scandal,
bold headlines screaming the shocking truth,
about the perfect couple’s dramatic downfall.
"Millionaire Husband Attempts to Poison Wife,"
one article read,
featuring a picture of Julian in handcuffs,
his face shielded from the cameras.
Another paper detailed the financial ruin,
the massive debts,
and the hidden life insurance policy,
that drove him to commit murder.
Evelyn read the articles,
sitting in her lawyer's office,
feeling a strange sense of detachment,
as if reading about a stranger.
The public exposure was painful,
but it was also liberating,
clearing away the remaining shadows,
of her past life.
She no longer had to maintain the facade,
she no longer had to pretend,
that everything was perfect,
when it was rotten inside.
Mr.
Marcus entered the room,
carrying a stack of legal documents,
announcing that the divorce proceedings,
were officially underway.
"Julian’s lawyers tried to contest the asset division,"
Marcus explained,
"but given the criminal charges,
they have absolutely no leverage."
"You will retain your entire inheritance,"
the lawyer assured her,
"and all joint property will be transferred,
solely to your name."
Evelyn nodded,
signing the papers quickly,
eager to sever the final legal ties,
that bound her to a monster.
She didn't care about the property,
she only wanted her freedom,
and the right to live her life,
on her own terms.
Julian’s betrayal was fully exposed,
his reputation destroyed,
his name dragged through the mud,
a fitting punishment for his arrogance.
He had traded his soul for money,
and in the end,
he lost both,
May you like
leaving him with nothing but a cold cell,
and a lifetime of regret.
