Chapter 9 - CHAOS AND CONFRONTATION

The words hung in the air,

heavy and explosive,

shattering the final remnants,

of the grand illusion.

Julian attempted to move,

his eyes darting towards the exit,

but the security guards,

now acting on the guests' cries,

blocked his path firmly.

"Do not move,

sir,"

the head guard ordered,

his hand resting on his belt,

his posture commanding respect and obedience.

Evelyn was shaking violently,

her eyes wide with horror,

as she stared at the phone screen,

watching the video repeat.

The footage was crystal clear,

showing Julian in the kitchen,

extracting the vial from his pocket,

and poisoning her drink,

with meticulous care.

The betrayal cut deeper,

than any physical blade,

tearing her heart to pieces,

destroying her trust forever.

"How could you?"

she screamed,

her voice breaking with emotion,

tears finally spilling over her cheeks,

ruining her perfect makeup.

"Ten years,

Julian!"

she cried out,

"I gave you everything,

my love,

my fortune,

my entire life!"

Julian’s face transformed,

the handsome mask completely slipping away,

revealing the desperate,

ugly monster underneath.

"You gave me nothing!"

he hissed back,

spitting the words with venom,

realizing he was cornered,

with no way out.

"Your family always looked down on me,"

he shouted,

defending his horrific actions,

"I was nothing but a puppet to you,

a trophy husband!"

The guests gasped in shock,

appalled by his sudden outburst,

by the raw malice,

exhibited by the man they once admired.

Lord Harrington shook his head,

disgusted by the revelation,

realizing he had almost partnered,

with a cold-blooded murderer.

Elena stepped closer to Evelyn,

placing a supportive hand on her shoulder,

offering what little comfort she could,

in this moment of absolute ruin.

Evelyn clung to the young maid,

the very person she had scolded,

May you like

realizing that Elena was her only true ally,

in this house of wolves.
