Chapter 3 - THE MAID'S DISCOVERY

Julian walked over to the desk,

muttering under his breath,

his face twisted in anger,

as he searched through the papers.

Elena watched him through a tiny gap,

in the velvet curtains,

her heart racing so fast,

she feared he would hear it.

He picked up the small glass vial,

examining it closely under the light,

a cold,

sinister smile appearing on his lips.

"Soon,"

he whispered to himself,

"it will all be over,

and the money will be mine."

The malice in his voice,

made Elena's skin crawl,

confirming her worst fears,

about the man her mistress loved.

Julian placed the vial in his pocket,

turned off the lights,

and left the room,

locking the door behind him.

Elena waited for a few minutes,

ensuring he was truly gone,

before letting out a shaky breath,

collapsing onto the floor.

She was terrified,

knowing she held a secret,

that could cost her life,

if discovered.

But she also knew,

she could not let Evelyn die,

as Evelyn had always been kind,

generous,

and caring towards her.

When Elena's mother was sick,

Evelyn had paid for the medicine,

saving her life without hesitation,

showing true compassion.

Elena swore an oath to herself,

right there in the dark room,

that she would protect her mistress,

no matter the cost.

She stood up,

straightened her uniform,

and carefully climbed out of the window,

landing softly on the grass outside.

She hurried back to the main house,

entering through the kitchen doors,

trying to appear calm,

though her mind was spinning.

The gala was reaching its peak,

the music grew louder,

and the main event was approaching,

the anniversary toast.

Elena looked at her phone,

staring at the clear evidence,

knowing she had to act quickly,

before Julian executed his plan.

She needed to find Evelyn alone,

to warn her,

to show her the video and photos,

but Julian was always by her side.

He clung to his wife like a shadow,

never letting her out of his sight,

playing the role of the devoted husband.

Time was running out,

the clock was ticking,

May you like

and the danger was growing,

with every passing second.
