Chapter 17 - The Race Against Time

The SUV roared through the narrow mountain roads,
the black truck hot on their heels,
its headlights flashing menacingly.
Clara pushed the engine to its absolute limit,
her hands gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles.
"Hold on,
Elena,"
she screamed,
as they rounded a dangerous cliffside curve.
Elena looked out the window,
seeing the deep abyss below,
knowing one wrong move meant certain death.
She noticed a diversion up ahead,
an old abandoned mining tunnel that cut through the mountain.
"Turn into the tunnel,
Clara,"
Elena yelled,
pointing toward the dark opening.
Clara veered sharply,
the tires screeching as they plunged into the pitch-black cavern.
The black truck followed,
but the narrow walls made it difficult for them to maneuver.
Clara switched off her headlights,
relying on her memory and the dim moonlight filtering through the cracks.
The truck crashed into a low-hanging rock structure,
causing a localized cave-in that blocked their path completely.
The sisters emerged from the other side of the tunnel,
shaken but alive,
leaving their pursuers trapped in the dark.
They drove into the brightly lit streets of Zurich,
the safe haven finally within their reach.

They headed straight for the international court of justice,
ready to hand over the final piece of the puzzle.
