Chapter 5 - The Search in the Rain

Panic seized Clara's heart,

as she clutched the silver locket to her chest,

knowing Elena would never leave it behind willingly.

She ran down the grand staircase,

screaming her sister's name,

but only the echoes answered her.

The servants avoided her gaze,

looking down at the floor,

clearly ordered to remain silent by Lady Eleanor.

Clara rushed outside into the pouring rain,

her expensive silk shoes sinking into the mud,

as she searched the vast gardens.

"Elena,"

she cried out,

the cold water blinding her eyes,

mixing with her desperate tears.

She saw a figure near the security gate,

and ran toward it,

hoping it was her sister.

Instead,

she found Thomas,

the old family driver who had served her parents for decades.

Thomas looked around nervously,

ensuring no one was watching,

before pulling Clara under the shelter of the gatehouse.

"Miss Clara,

you must listen to me,"

Thomas whispered urgently,

his voice shaking with fear.

"Where is she,

Thomas,"

Clara demanded,

grabbing his wet coat.

"The young master had her taken,"

Thomas revealed,

looking back toward the main house,

"they put her in a black sedan."

Clara's blood ran cold,

realizing Julian was capable of kidnapping her own sister.

"Where did they take her,"

she asked,

her teeth chattering from the cold and the shock.

"To the old warehouse district near the docks,"

Thomas answered,

handing her a piece of paper with an address,

"please be careful,

they are dangerous people."

Clara thanked him,

knowing she couldn't go to the police,

because the Blackstones owned the local police chief.

She had to save Elena herself,

even if it meant walking straight into a trap.

She jumped into her sports car,

revving the engine loudly,

May you like

and sped out of the estate,

leaving the world of luxury behind.
