Chapter 10
The car door opened with a soft,
expensive click,
and a young man in a tailored grey suit stepped out.
He looked around the modest neighborhood with an expression of mild surprise,
his eyes lingering on the bright garden.
He adjusted his glasses,
holding a sleek leather briefcase tightly against his side as he walked up the path.
The neighbors,
always protective of Evelyn and Sophie,
began to peek through their curtains,
sensing a potential threat.
Evelyn stepped onto the porch,
her posture straight,
her eyes fierce with the protective instinct of a mother.
The young man stopped at the bottom of the steps,
bowing his head respectfully,
removing his hat.

"Mrs.
Evelyn?"
he asked,
his voice smooth,
trained,
yet noticeably nervous.
"I am Mr.
Harrison,
the personal legal counsel for the estate you once resided in."
Sophie walked over to her mother's side,
her hand naturally slipping into Evelyn's,
forming an unbreakable front.
"We received your letter,"
Evelyn said,
her voice steady,
devoid of any fear or malice.
"Why are you here in person?"
The lawyer sighed,
May you like
looking at the two of them,
realizing that wealth would not intimidate them.
