Chapter 15

While his family healed,

Marcus’s counter-strike against the Rossi family was executed with lethal precision.

The federal investigation he had initiated bore fruit within less than twenty-four hours.

The authorities discovered a massive network of unrecorded offshore accounts linked directly to Lorenzo Rossi.

By noon,

the Rossi Group’s international trading licenses were formally suspended,

effectively freezing their entire global operation.

The blackmail material they had tried to use against Marcus was rendered completely useless,

as their own house was burning down around them.

Marcus sat in his corporate office,

watching the live news coverage of the federal raid on the Rossi estate.

His phone rang,

the display showing an unknown number,

but he knew exactly who it was.

He answered,

placing the phone to his ear without speaking a single word.

"You think you’ve won,

Thorne?"

Lorenzo Rossi’s voice hissed over the line,

shaking with a mixture of rage and desperation.

"I don't think,

Lorenzo,"

Marcus replied,

his tone colder than ice.

"I know."

"I will drag your name through the mud,"

Lorenzo threatened,

coughing dryly.

"I will expose every contract,

every deal you’ve ever made!"

"Go ahead,"

Marcus invited calmly,

leaning back in his leather chair.

"The public is currently watching your assets being seized by the federal government."

"Anything you say now will just look like the desperate lies of a ruined criminal."

A long,

suffocating silence followed,

the reality of his defeat finally sinking into the older man's mind.

"You are a monster,"

Lorenzo whispered,

his voice breaking.

"No,"

Marcus corrected him,

his eyes narrowing.

"I am a father,"

"and you allowed your daughter to touch my family."

"This is the price of that mistake."

He hung up the phone,

cutting off the connection forever,

feeling no remorse for the destruction he had caused.

They had chosen this war,

thinking they were untouchable,

but they had forgotten that Marcus Thorne had built his empire on the bones of men far smarter than them.

He stood up,

straightening his tie,

and walked out of the office,

leaving the corporate world behind once more.

His true work was at the hospital,

where his son was getting stronger with every passing hour.

The legal battles were over,

May you like

the enemies were entirely crushed,

and the path to a peaceful life was finally clear of any obstacles.
