Chapter 19

The final chapter of their past was officially closed a month later,

when the public trial of Isabella Rossi and Daniel Cross concluded.

Marcus refused to let Khloe attend the sentencing,

wanting to shield her from the lingering negativity of that chapter.

He attended himself,

sitting in the front row of the gallery,

a silent,

powerful reminder of the justice that had been served.

Isabella was sentenced to fifteen years in a federal facility,

her family’s fortune entirely dismantled by the subsequent tax fraud investigations.

Daniel Cross received a lighter sentence of seven years due to his total cooperation,

but his medical license was revoked permanently,

his career thoroughly destroyed.

When the judge slammed the gavel down,

Marcus stood up,

fastened his suit jacket,

and walked out of the courtroom without saying a single word to the reporters outside.

He didn't need to gloat;

the results spoke for themselves.

He returned home to find Khloe sitting on a blanket in the garden,

Liam lying on his stomach beside her,

kicking his tiny legs in the warm grass.

The sight was so incredibly pure,

a sharp contrast to the cold,

sterile courtroom he had just departed.

He walked across the lawn,

loosening his tie and throwing it onto a nearby chair,

shedding the corporate skin completely.

Khloe looked up,

her face lighting up with a beautiful smile as she saw him approaching.

"Is it over?"

she asked quietly,

already knowing the answer from the relaxed lines of his face.

"It is completely over,"

Marcus confirmed,

dropping to one knee on the blanket,

scooping Liam into his arms and lifting him high into the air.

The baby let out a tiny,

gurgling squeal of delight,

his little hands reaching for his father’s face.

Marcus laughed,

pressing a warm kiss to his son's stomach,

feeling a joy that was entirely uncomplicated.

Khloe watched them,

her eyes misting over with a deep happiness,

realizing that the shadow that had hung over them for so long had finally vanished.

They were free to live,

free to love,

and free to build a future that belonged entirely to them.

The Thorne empire was no longer just a cold structure of business and power;

it was a home,

May you like

guarded by love,

and filled with the beautiful promise of tomorrow.
