By the following week, Lumina Grid’s stock price had plummeted by nearly forty percent. Major municipal clients cancelled their contracts, refusing to be associated with a company whose former CEO was facing charges of fraud, extortion, and domestic abuse.
In a desperate bid to save the company, Lumina’s Board of Directors officially terminated Adrian Caldwell for cause, stripping him of his golden parachute, stock options, and executive severance package.
Stripped of his position, his wealth, and his public standing, Adrian retreated to a rented two-bedroom apartment on the outskirts of town—the only place he could afford with his remaining un-frozen personal accounts.
Desperate to avoid prison time, Bianca Shaw agreed to cooperate fully with the District Attorney.
In exchange for a reduced sentence on the assault charge, Bianca signed a sworn affidavit detailing how Adrian had masterminded the entire plot: the forged separation agreement, the hiding of marital assets, and the deliberate campaign to isolate me from my family.
Natalie Brooks called me into her office to deliver the news.
"He's completely finished, Lydia," Natalie said, leaning back in her chair. "The DA is preparing an indictment for wire fraud, perjury, and extortion. His criminal defense attorney contacted me an hour ago begging for a civil settlement in your divorce case."
"What are they offering?" I asked.
"Everything," Natalie replied. "The house, full ownership of all remaining marital liquid assets, maximum child support, and sole legal and physical custody of your daughter with zero visitation rights."
