Chapter 9 - The Reckoning of Security

"I am issuing an immediate, emergency order of protection," Judge Warren announced, her gavel hovering over the block. "Mr. Adrian Caldwell is barred from coming within five hundred feet of Mrs. Lydia Caldwell, her temporary residence, or her medical facilities."
"Your Honor, you can't do this!" Adrian yelled, taking a step toward the bench before a bailiff blocked him. "I run a multimillion-dollar public company! This will destroy my reputation!"
"You should have considered your reputation before threatening a pregnant woman, sir," Judge Warren replied coldly. "Furthermore, Mrs. Caldwell is granted exclusive, immediate possession of the marital home. Law enforcement will escort Mr. Caldwell from the premises immediately so he may retrieve his personal clothing—nothing else."
"What about our financial accounts?" Pike interjected desperately.
"All joint marital accounts, as well as Mr. Caldwell’s personal liquid assets, are frozen effective immediately," Judge Warren ordered. "A court-appointed forensic accountant will review every transaction made over the last three years to determine if marital assets were improperly transferred to third parties."
Judge Warren looked directly at Bianca, whose sapphire bracelet glinted under the lights.
"That includes an investigation into any gifts, real estate, or jewelry purchased using marital funds," Judge Warren added. "Ms. Shaw will remain in custody while the District Attorney’s office evaluates charges for felony assault and perjury."
"Adrian!" Bianca shrieked as the guards cuffed her hands behind her back. "Do something! You promised me I wouldn't get dragged into this!"
Adrian didn't even look at her. He stared at the floor, his hands trembling violently.
"Court is adjourned," Judge Warren said, slamming her gavel down with a deafening crack.
The paramedics gently wheeled my gurney toward the side exit, away from the reporters who were already beginning to gather outside the main doors.

My brother gave me a quiet, resolute nod. He didn't say a word, but his message was clear: You're not alone anymore.
