Chapter 18 - A Letter From Prison

One rainy morning,

the bride received a plain white envelope.

It had a harsh prison stamp on it,

indicating it was from her former fiancé.

She sat at her expensive kitchen table,

debating whether to open it or burn it.

Curiosity won the fierce internal battle,

and she carefully tore the top edge open.

The handwriting was messy and erratic,

filled with desperate apologies and regrets.

He wrote about how much he missed the world,

and how the darkness was driving him insane.

He begged her to visit him just once,

so he could see a beautiful face again.

The bride read the letter with cold indifference,

feeling absolutely nothing for the ruined man.

She shredded the letter into tiny pieces,

throwing them directly into the trash can.
