Chapter 19 - The Crossing Paths

Bride: The charity gala is tonight,
I need to make an appearance,
it is good for the company image.
Executive: The press will be there,
wear something spectacular,
show them you are untouchable.
Bride: I will wear the red dress,
the color of victory,
the color of survival.
Maid: I received an invitation to the charity gala,
they want me to speak about single motherhood,
should I go?
Lawyer: You should absolutely go,
it is a great platform,
you have a powerful story to share.
Maid: I am nervous about public speaking,
but if it helps other women,
I will do it.
Bride: Arriving at the gala,
the flashbulbs blinding me,
I smile perfectly for the cameras.
Reporter: Ms. Eleanor,
you look stunning tonight,
any comments on your recent business acquisitions?
Bride: We are expanding responsibly,
focusing on ethical partnerships,
thank you.
Maid: Entering through the side door,
feeling slightly out of place in my rented gown,
trying to remain calm.
Host: Welcome,
we are so honored to have you speak tonight,
your resilience is an inspiration.
Maid: Thank you for having me,
I just want to shed light on the struggles of abandoned mothers,
it is an important cause.
Bride: Walking through the crowded ballroom,
sipping champagne,
when I see her across the room.
Maid: I notice Marie walking towards me,
looking like a queen,
intimidating but familiar.
Bride: Hello again,
you look beautiful tonight,
I heard you are the keynote speaker.
Maid: I am terrified,
these people are so wealthy and powerful,
I feel like an imposter.
Bride: You are the most real person in this room,
they are the imposters,
do not let their diamonds intimidate you.
Maid: Thank you, Marie,
that means a lot coming from you,
you always know what to say.
Bride: We are bound by a strange history,
a sisterhood forged in the fire of his betrayal,
we support each other now.
Host: Ladies and gentlemen,
please take your seats,
our keynote speaker is about to begin.
Bride: Go get them,
tell them your truth,
I will be cheering for you from the front row.
Maid: Walking up to the podium,
my hands shaking slightly,
but my voice steady as I begin to speak.
Maid: I stand before you tonight,
not as a victim,
but as a mother who fought the darkest shadows to protect her child.
Bride: Listening to her words,
I feel a tear roll down my cheek,
a tear of pure respect and closure.
Maid: We can survive anything,
if we hold onto the truth,
and if we refuse to be silenced by those who wish to hide us.
Audience: Erupts in applause,
May you like
a standing ovation,
the room vibrating with support.
