Chapter 12 - The Ashes Of An Empire

Reporter: Breaking news today,

the former tech billionaire has officially filed for Chapter eleven bankruptcy,

his assets are being liquidated.

Guest: I told you so,

I pulled my investments just in time,

the man was a sinking ship.

Reporter: The headquarters of his once-great company are currently being emptied,

employees are walking out with cardboard boxes,

a tragic end to a massive empire.

Groom: Look at them,

taking my computers,

taking my chairs,

taking my life's work.

Mother: Stop staring out the window,

we need to pack our personal belongings,

the bank is foreclosing on the house tomorrow.

Groom: We are homeless?

How did it happen so fast?

How did we lose millions in a few months?

Mother: The retroactive child support drained the liquid accounts,

and your ex-father-in-law blacklisted us from every bank in the city,

we were starved out.

Groom: He truly crushed me,

just like he promised,

he turned me into dust.

Mother: We have some jewelry left,

I can sell my diamonds,

we will rent a small apartment in the suburbs.

Groom: I cannot live in the suburbs,

I am a CEO,

I belong in the penthouse.

Mother: You are nothing now,

you are a disgraced fraud,

you need to accept our new reality.

Groom: It was all her fault,

if she had not shown up at the wedding,

none of this would have happened.

Mother: No,

it is your fault,

for not handling your baggage properly.

Groom: I hate her,

I hate both of them,

they conspired to ruin my life.

Mother: Hate will not pay the rent,

start packing your clothes,

leave the expensive suits, you will not need them.

Groom: What am I supposed to do now?

Work at a grocery store?

Serve coffee to the people I used to employ?

Mother: You will do whatever it takes to survive,

welcome to the real world,

the world you forced your first wife to live in.

Groom: That is a cruel irony,

I am living the exact nightmare I created for her,

karma is a vicious beast.

Mother: Karma is just a word poor people use to feel better,

we lost because we were outplayed,

we underestimated our enemies.

Groom: I will never underestimate anyone again,

if I ever get back on top,

I will be ruthless.

Mother: Focus on getting off the floor first,

grab that box,

the movers are waiting.

Groom: Goodbye to my empire,

May you like

built on lies,

destroyed by the truth.
