Chapter 13 - A New Dawn
Maid: Look at this place, Leo,
it is our new house,
with a real backyard just for you.
Leo: It is so big, Mommy,
can I get a dog now?
A big fluffy dog?
Maid: You can get whatever you want,
we finally have enough space,
and we finally have peace.
Lawyer: The settlement money cleared this morning,
you are financially secure for the rest of your life,
you never have to worry again.
Maid: I do not care about the money,
I care about the safety,
he cannot touch us here.
Lawyer: He cannot touch anyone,
he is living in a two-bedroom apartment in a bad neighborhood,
working a minimum wage job.
Maid: Part of me pities him,
he fell so far,
so fast.
Lawyer: Do not waste your pity,
he brought it entirely upon himself,
he is reaping what he sowed.
Maid: I know,
but it is sad to see a human being destroy themselves,
driven by pure greed.
Bride: Knock knock,
am I interrupting?
I brought a housewarming gift.
Maid: Marie,
please come in,
I am so glad you came.
Bride: I brought champagne for us,
and a giant teddy bear for Leo,
where is the little man?
Maid: He is running around the backyard,
exploring his new territory,
thank you for everything you did.
Bride: We did it together,
we took down a tyrant,
it feels pretty empowering.
Maid: How are you doing?
Are you dating again?
Moving on?
Bride: I am taking a break from men,
I am focusing on my father's business,
learning to be the boss myself.
Maid: You will be an amazing boss,
you are strong,
you are fearless.
Bride: I learned from the best,
watching you fight for your son in that courtroom,
it changed me.
Maid: We changed each other,
from rivals to allies,
it is a strange world.
Bride: I propose a toast,
to new beginnings,
to truth,
and to leaving the past behind.
Maid: Cheers to that,
may we never be deceived again,
may we always trust our instincts.
Lawyer: I will drink to that as well,
it was the most satisfying case of my career,
justice was truly served.
Maid: Life is finally beautiful again,
