Chapter 12: The Employee Welfare Fund
Sienna looked into Victoria's eyes, seeing the quiet honesty that had replaced the former arrogance. She offered a small, understanding nod.
"Apology accepted, Victoria," Sienna replied quietly.
Three days later, the hotel hosted an all-hands assembly in the grand ballroom—the same room where Victoria’s private gala had taken place weeks earlier. But this time, there were no champagne towers or designer gowns. The tables were set for the four hundred employees of the St. Moritz Hotel: housekeepers, line cooks, maintenance crews, valets, and front desk clerks.
Sienna stood at the podium near the center of the room. Standing beside her was Officer Wright, Maya, and, standing quietly near the edge of the stage, Victoria Sterling.
"Forty years ago, my father opened these doors with a simple promise," Sienna spoke into the microphone, her voice echoing warmly through the room. "He promised that every person who worked under this roof would be treated as a partner in our success. Today, we are making that promise permanent."
Sienna announced the creation of the Arthur Mercer Employee Trust—a permanent financial fund that granted ten percent of the hotel’s annual net profits directly to staff health benefits, educational scholarships, and emergency family assistance.
The ballroom erupted in enthusiastic, heartfelt applause. Housekeepers embraced, line cooks cheered, and tears of joy streamed down the faces of long-time staff members who had worked for years without recognition.
Sienna stepped back from the podium and walked over to Victoria, handing her an official binder. "This is the administrative oversight committee for the trust, Victoria. I want you to serve as one of the board trustees representing staff operations."

"You spent the last six weeks working alongside them," Sienna said softly. "You know what they need better than any executive sitting in a corner office. Use what you learned to help them."
