Chapter 63 - The Promotion

Sienna closed the door to her office, gesturing for Maya to take a seat opposite the grand mahogany desk. Maya sat down rigidly, her posture perfect, waiting for what she assumed was a reprimand regarding the summit schedule.

Sienna did not sit. She stood near the window, looking out at the city skyline before turning back to face her most trusted employee.

"Maya, you have been with the St. Moritz through our darkest days and our greatest triumphs," Sienna began, her voice steady and full of profound respect. "You stood by me when Vanguard tried to poach our staff. You helped define the culture of empathy that now defines this building."

"It has been the honor of my life to work here, Ms. Vance," Maya replied earnestly.

"The St. Moritz is thriving," Sienna continued. "But my responsibilities are expanding. With The Grand Belle operating at full capacity, and my new role as the Chairperson of the Independent Coalition, I can no longer oversee the daily, minute-by-minute operations of this property."

Maya’s eyes widened, a sudden realization dawning on her.

"A hotel requires a soul, Maya," Sienna said, walking around the desk and leaning against it. "It requires someone who understands that the guests are not metrics, and the staff are not machines. It requires a leader who leads with a golden heart."

Sienna picked up a heavy, embossed brass nameplate from her desk and slid it across the polished wood toward Maya.

Maya looked down. The nameplate read: Maya Lin, General Manager, The St. Moritz.

Maya gasped, covering her mouth with her hands, tears instantly springing to her eyes. "Ms. Vance... Sienna... I... are you serious?"

"I have never been more serious," Sienna smiled radiantly. "You are the heart of this lobby, Maya. It is time you ran the house."

Maya stood up, throwing professional decorum to the wind, and pulled Sienna into a fierce, joyous hug.

"I won't let you down," Maya whispered fiercely.

"I know you won't," Sienna replied, hugging her back. "Now, go manage your hotel, Madam General Manager. We have a summit to host."
