Chapter 61 - Evelyn's Fall

|
The fallout from the Vanguard shareholder meeting was swift and brutal. By nightfall, federal agents were removing boxes of hard drives from Vanguard Tower. Evelyn Vance was escorted out of the building in handcuffs, her face splashed across every major news network. The massive conglomerate that had terrorized the hospitality industry for a decade was paralyzed by investigations and plummeting stock prices.
Sienna watched the news broadcast from the quiet sanctuary of her office at the St. Moritz. She clicked off the television, feeling a profound, heavy sense of relief wash over her. The war was officially over. The dragon had been slain.
A gentle knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Julian stood in the doorway, looking tired but deeply at peace.
"I just heard," Julian said, stepping into the room. "The SEC froze all of Vanguard's liquid assets. They are talking about breaking up the conglomerate entirely."
"You gave them the final push," Sienna acknowledged, motioning for him to sit. "Thank you, Julian. You saved the St. Moritz."
"You saved me first, Sienna," Julian replied earnestly, taking a seat. "You showed me that success doesn't have to be built on the ruins of your enemies. It can be built on respect."
Sienna looked at her former rival, recognizing the genuine transformation in his eyes.
"So, what will you do now?" Sienna asked. "You are a brilliant strategist, Julian. You can't just retire."
Julian chuckled softly. "I don't plan to. I’ve been thinking... Vanguard’s collapse is going to leave a massive vacuum in the market. Dozens of historic, independent hotels are going to be left vulnerable without a central support network. I want to build a coalition. A non-profit advisory group that helps independent hotels defend themselves against corporate buyouts."
Sienna’s eyes widened with admiration. It was the perfect redemption for the man who used to orchestrate those very buyouts.
"That is a magnificent idea," Sienna said.
"I was hoping," Julian hesitated slightly, "that the St. Moritz and The Grand Belle would be the founding members of the coalition. With your blessing."

Sienna smiled, a brilliant, victorious expression.
"You have my blessing, Julian. And you have my partnership."
