Chapter 34 - The Chateau in the Hills

The revelation of The Grand Belle was a seismic shift in Sienna's understanding of her father's legacy. Armed with the deed, she decided she needed to see the property with her own eyes.
She drove out to the countryside the following morning, accompanied by her trusted maintenance director, Marcus. The journey took them two hours out of the city, winding through dense, overgrown forests and rolling hills.
Finally, they turned down a rusted, iron-gated driveway. The property emerged from the overgrown foliage like a sleeping giant.
The Grand Belle was a sprawling, French-style chateau built of pale stone, featuring elegant turrets and massive, arched windows. However, time had not been kind. Ivy choked the stonework, the roof was missing several slates, and the grand wooden doors were weathered and gray.
"My god," Marcus breathed, stepping out of the car and staring up at the massive structure. "It’s a fortress. But it’s going to take millions to restore this."
"Let's look inside," Sienna said, pushing through the overgrown weeds to reach the front entrance.
With a heavy push, the old doors creaked open, revealing a breathtaking, sweeping double staircase covered in dust and debris. The structural bones of the chateau were magnificent. Faded frescoes adorned the high ceilings, and a massive stone fireplace dominated the main hall.
"The architecture is flawless," Sienna whispered, walking through the empty ballroom. "He wanted to build a sanctuary away from the city noise."
"It's a beautiful dream, Ms. Vance," Marcus noted, inspecting a load-bearing pillar. "But practically speaking, restoring this while fighting off Vanguard in the city... it's a massive financial risk."
"I know," Sienna admitted, trailing her hand over the dusty banister. "But Vanguard is expanding globally. If we remain just a single, independent hotel, Julian will eventually find a way to isolate us. If we rebuild The Grand Belle, we don't just have a hotel; we have a brand. An independent, historic hospitality brand."

Marcus smiled, seeing the same visionary fire in Sienna that he had once seen in her father.
"Well then," Marcus laughed softly, clapping his hands together to shake off the dust. "I suppose I better start drafting a restoration budget."
