Chapter 31 - The Trap is Set

Finding the mole required patience and precision. Sienna instructed her IT director to create a dummy file containing a fabricated, highly sensitive financial vulnerability report. It was bait, designed to look incredibly valuable to a corporate predator like Julian Thorne.
For three days, they watched the server logs. On the fourth evening, the trap snapped shut.
Sienna sat in the security room, watching the digital footprint trace back to a specific terminal.
"Got them," the IT director whispered, pointing at the screen. "The file was just accessed and forwarded to the Vanguard burner email."
"Whose login is it?" Sienna asked, her heart pounding.
"David, the junior director of guest relations."
Sienna closed her eyes. David was a bright, ambitious young man she had personally promoted just a few months ago.
"Bring him to my office," Sienna ordered softly. "Now."
Ten minutes later, David was escorted into Sienna’s office. He looked nervous, shifting uncomfortably under Sienna’s unwavering, disappointed gaze. Victoria stood silently in the corner of the room.
"David," Sienna began, her voice calm but echoing with authority. "How much is Julian Thorne paying you?"
David turned pale, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly before he finally stammered, "I... I don't know what you are talking about, Ms. Vance."
Sienna turned her laptop around, displaying the undeniable server logs showing the transfer of the dummy file.
"Julian Thorne relies on greed," Sienna said, her tone laced with profound sadness. "I relied on loyalty. It seems I misjudged you."
David dropped his head, his shoulders sagging in defeat. "He offered to pay off my student loans. He said Vanguard was going to crush you anyway, and I should secure my future. I'm sorry."
"I am sorry too, David," Sienna said. "You are terminated, effective immediately. Security will escort you out."

"Are you going to press charges?" David asked, his voice shaking with fear.
"No," Sienna replied coolly. "Because I want you to go back to Julian and tell him exactly what happened. Tell him that the St. Moritz does not bleed. Tell him his corporate espionage failed, and the file he just received is completely fake."
